An honest look at what each tool does well โ and where MailboxRadar fills the gap.
MXToolbox is the go-to tool for network engineers and sysadmins. It has a comprehensive set of DNS lookup tools, blacklist checks, and email header analyzers. But it was built for technical users โ the results are raw DNS output with minimal explanation, and monitoring costs $129+/month just to get started.
MXToolbox has no seed inbox placement testing. You can check DNS records and blacklists, but you have no idea whether your emails are actually landing in Gmail or Outlook inboxes.
Passive seed monitoring, plain-language results, done-for-you fix services, and a starting price of $0. MailboxRadar is designed for marketers, not sysadmins.
GlockApps pioneered seed-based inbox placement testing and does it well. The problem is the pricing model: you pay per test. If you're sending daily campaigns, the cost adds up fast โ and there's no continuous passive monitoring.
GlockApps requires you to manually initiate each test. There's no passive monitoring โ you must actively remember to test every campaign.
Always-on passive monitoring means every campaign is tested automatically. We also include DNS, blacklist, and uptime monitoring that GlockApps doesn't offer.
Dmarcian is the leading DMARC specialist tool. If you need deep DMARC reporting at scale, it's excellent. But it's expensive ($149+/month), DMARC-only, and assumes significant technical knowledge.
Dmarcian is a single-feature tool. It doesn't monitor inbox placement, blacklists, site uptime, SSL certificates, or domain expiry.
MailboxRadar covers DMARC as part of a complete email infrastructure platform โ alongside SPF, DKIM, BIMI, inbox placement, blacklists, uptime, and fix services โ all starting at $19/month.
